Combine three wiggly boys, little to no time and a hurried mother and what do you get?? Yes, you get a child with a bald spot above his right ear. A spot that shines (quite literally) my failure as a hair stylist. Our poor lopsided son wore hats and beanies for weeks until his hair finally grew back into place.
Flash forward to the present.........
Our boys curly locks were once again growing quite long so I pulled out the comb and scissors and began the tedious task of taming their wild hair. This time I was determined to take my time and go slowly. We did not want a repeat of last time! I carefully inspected each child's head before sending them upstairs to take a bath and I was quite satisfied with the results.
Until the next day.........
We were sitting down to eat dinner and I noticed that Austin had a very familiar lack of hair above his right ear. Same spot, same baldness. We laughed at the irony and I vowed to never again cut their hair and just pay someone else to do it. Austin, however, didn't laugh. He had a strange look on his face........
Later, I found my scissors, (which I had put away), on the table, along with a few other items used to cut hair. Knowing full well that I didn't leave them there, it all started to make sense..........the look on Austin's face.......the items I found..........the bald spot in the SAME place as before, even though I double checked his head.........
He had cut his own hair. When confronted about it, Austin confessed. His response? "It was too long on this side."
